TRUE Initiative Website Debuts with Custom Global Map and Emissions Rating Tool

We’re excited and proud to announce The Real Urban Emissions (TRUE) Initiative website redesign! TRUE Initiative supports cities around the world in advancing effective air quality and climate policies through the use of independent real-world vehicle emissions data, rigorous analysis, and expert guidance. 

Born out of collaboration, the TRUE Initiative is an effort launched by the FIA Foundation and the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) in the wake of the Dieselgate scandal—a turning point that underscored the urgent need for independent, real-world emissions testing and ultimately inspired its creation.

10th anniversary of Dieselgate

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Dieselgate, making it a perfect moment for TRUE to reintroduce itself with a new web presence that reflects its global reach. Their previous website emphasized their UK origins and European focus, but with their work expanding worldwide, they needed a modern design to highlight their global impact.

To meet that need, we introduced several key features, including an interactive global map with country-level project details. The map allows users to explore the breadth of TRUE’s work, access resources, and see how the organization is driving cleaner air and stronger climate policy across the globe.

TRUE Rating Tool

We also focused on enhancing the TRUE Rating Tool, which tracks vehicle emissions data. We redesigned the dashboard with a cleaner, more user-friendly interface and improved the backend content editor so staff can seamlessly manage data and keep information up to date.

Finally, to make their research more accessible, we built a robust resource library. Visitors can now filter reports and materials by year, region, city, content type, and category, or simply use the search function to quickly find what they need.

Looking ahead, the TRUE Initiative will have a strong presence at COP30 in Brazil this fall. The convening is an incredible opportunity to share their latest work, celebrate accomplishments, and strengthen the organization’s role within the global climate movement.
